CineConcerto:

Catherine Morisseau accompanies the film Go West! (1925) by Buster Keaton on the piano

At Fábrica da Cerveja, it will be possible to see cinema as you rarely can. The experience of watching a movie accompanied by live music is one that you will never forget, leaving you with the desire for it to happen more often and with the feeling that cinema, like life, should always be like this.

Catherine Morisseau is a Parisian pianist and composer who has lived in Lisbon for nearly two decades. In addition to being a performer, and having gained experience across several musical styles, composition is what she favors as a pianist. She edited an album in her own name, “Myriades”, released in 2018 and now sold out, but available on digital platforms, which features the participation of several personalities from the Portuguese music scene (Carlos Barretto, members of the Gulbenkian Choir).
Melancholic, neoclassical, indie, minimalist, poetic, intimate and cinematic are some of the words that best define the body of work of her compositions.
Resident pianist at the Cinemateca Portuguesa, for more than a decade she has also composed the piano accompaniment for silent films in another aspect of her work. During the last few years, he accompanied films on the piano, not only at the Cinematheque, but throughout Portugal and France, films by silent film icons such as Charlie Chaplin and Buster Keaton, as well as the Lumière Brothers, Georges Méliès, Ozu, between others.
