Mirante das Freiras

In the current Municipal Museum of Faro, located in the Convent of Nossa Senhora da Assunção whose construction began in 1519 on the ruins of the old Jewish quarter of Faro, you can go up to the old Mirante das Freias. This former women's convent of Poor Clares, has a lookout point where the nuns, being cloistered, went and could see life outside the convent without being seen. A place inaccessible to the public, it is a unique opportunity to “peek” at the city incognito.
