International Commission - A rooftop mural by Larsen Bervoets

As part of the European Network of Creative Terraces led by Faro, an international open call has been launched to select an artist who will travel through several cities to create a work of art that will be shared in Gothenburg, Rotterdam, Chemnitz, Nicosia, Antwerp and Faro. These cities will be connected through the first transnational Rooftop Landmark exhibition co-created with Belgian artist Larsen Bervoets.

Each version of Larsen’s artwork will be created through a participatory process involving local communities. With this international project we will increase the visibility of the landscape heritage of European cities and promote its use among citizens. After Gothenburg, Rotterdam and Chemnitz, Larsen is heading to Faro, where he will be working since mid-June on a large mural on the floor of the beer factory’s roof.
Larsen Bervoets (Antwerp, 1979) is a multidisciplinary and experimental artist. His works are characterized by compact geometric compositions that give the impression of “one space”. Often in these creations, colors and color patterns create the illusion of an extra dimension.
