“Emoções Bárbaras” by Cláudia Tomé Silva

CLÁUDIA TOMÉ SILVA was born in 1975, exactly nine months after the Carnation Revolution. Born in Faro, resident in the Algarve, graduated in Journalism and lover of the word. Being born and raised in a sect over which she cannot have real power of choice, for a long time, marked her identity intensely.

Writing poetry has always been a therapeutic way to deal with emotions. She kept the poems written in her adolescence and for about twenty years the poetry remained in a drawer. Six years after becoming the mother of twins, and in the midst of a new identity crisis, she once again found in writing a form of catharsis and overcoming difficulties.

She took two theater courses in 2014 (Sin-Cera) and 2015 (ArQuente). She has participated in various formations, workshops, performances, readings, presentations, recitals, publications, poetic events, fairs, festivals and poetry slams in the Algarve, in Setúbal and in Almada, since 2017.

Her first poetry book "Emoções Bárbaras" (Epopeia Books) was published in 2021. With a preface by Nuno Gomes (Macau), the 162-page volume addresses the visceral relationship with emotions in an autobiographical trait. She participated in the poetic collection “O Eco dos Pássaros” (Epopeia Books) in 2021.

In March 2022 she debuted in Tavira, at the Álvaro de Campos Municipal Library and at the invitation of Casa Álvaro de Campos, her first poetic performance, totally created and produced by herself, also with the motto "Emoções Bárbaras".

Since May 2022, she has a weekly section on RUA-Rádio Universitária do Algarve, called P de Poesia, with authorial poems set to music, where she also fully edits it.

In March 2023, she was co-curator of the event "Roer o Silêncio", staged at the IPDJ in Faro, responding to the invitation of Associação Algarve ao Vivo to organize an evening of poetry alluding to International Women's Day, an event to which they joined , to their challenge, Sara Martins and Ana Simon, as well as Lady N.

In April 2023, he launches, at Quintinha da Bri (Olhão), the first sessions for families "How to support my neurodiverse child?", officially asserting himself as a militant of neurodiverse activism, to support children with neurodevelopmental disorders and their families , activism that started informally in 2019.

In May 2023, she launches, also at Quintinha da Bri, the first Written and Spoken Word Laboratory for Women. She has been carrying out, since 2022, an investigation into unknown Algarve poets, an investigation that she plans to turn into a poetic performance.
